The newly constituted Diocesan Pastoral Council will meet on March 07 2009 (Saturday) from 09:00 am to 04:00 pm at Gianodaya, Diocesan Pastoral Centre & Holy Trinity Regional Major Seminary Auditorium. Please pray that this important body of the Diocese representing the entire local Church may be a useful instrument in the hands of the Lord to bring about a genuine renewal and active missionary commitment in our Diocese.
RCC MEETING
The bi-annual Regional Catholic Council meeting will take place this time at Novinta Retreat House, Delhi on March 14-15, 2009. Since this is an important Regional Forum for the representatives of all the four Dioceses of the Region to meet and interact, kindly keep this important meeting in your prayers.
The Pastoral Clergy of the Diocese will be in Retreat from March 22, 2009 (evening) to March 27, 2009 (evening). Kindly keep us in your prayers for an outpouring of God’s graces on each and all of the Pastoral Clergy of the Diocese so that we may be renewed in Spirit for a deeper commitment to our pastoral ministry in the Diocese. This Retreat has been anticipated due to the Episcopal Ordination in Chandigarh on April 03.
CHRISM MASS
The annual Mass of the Holy Chrism will take place on March 27, 2009 at 06: 00 pm at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Jalandhar Cantt.. This is an important occasion in every Diocese at which the Clergy, Religious and Laity gather together around the Eucharistic table in communion with their Bishop to express and celebrate their communion in the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church centered on the Holy Eucharist. At this Holy Mass the three Holy Oils used in the dispensation of the Sacraments viz. Oil of the Catechumens, Oil of the Sick and Holy Chrism are blessed.
BISHOP-ELECT REV. FR. IGNATIUS MASCARENHAS
With immense joy and gratitude to God I would like to announce that Rev. Fr. Ignatius Mascarenhas of the Clergy of the Archdiocese of Delhi and currently Rector of Khrist Jyoti Gurukul (Regional Propadeutic Seminary, Kauli) has been elected Bishop of the Diocese of Shimla-Chandigarh. His Episcopal Ordination will take place on April 03, 2009 at 10:00 am at Christ the King Cathedral, Chandigarh. Let us keep him and his Episcopal Ministry in our prayers.
Our newly ordained Auxiliary Bishop of Delhi, His Excellency, Bishop Franco Mulakkal will be accorded a warm and affectionate reception by our Diocese on April 14, 2009. Details will be made known later.
PROFESSION OF MJ SISTERS
The First and Final Professions of the Missionaries of Jesus Sisters will take place at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Jalandhar Cantt. on April 15, 2009. We join them in thanking God for the gift of these young Sisters to the Church and pray for courage and strength to be faithful witnesses of God’s Kingdom.
The good Lord in His bounty has given two new priests for the Diocese and one for the Capuchin Congregation. Their ordinations are scheduled as follows:
i) Ordination to Priesthood of Rev. Deacon Jacob Madathumpady on 02/05/2009 at St. Francis Xavier Church, Vijayapuram, Cheroor,Trichur, Kerala.
ii) Ordination to Priesthood of Rev. Deacon John Manathanath on 04/05/2009 at St. John the Baptist Church, South Paravoor, Ernakulam, Kerala.
iii) Ordination to Priesthood of Rev. Deacon John Paul OFM Cap.on 13/04/2009 at St Francis’ Catholic Church, Kartarpur, Punjab.
