Established:   1847
History         The old church and presbytery at Jalandhar Cantonment was built in 1847
                    during the chaplaincy of Fr. John McDonnel OFM Cap.

It served mainly as the chapel for the military personnel. From 1930s, with the expansion of mission work, this became the parish church for the area. In 1952, when the Apostolic Prefecture of Jalandhar was created, this became the administrative headquarters. With the erection of the Diocese of Jullundur on December 6, 1972, the old Jalandhar Cantonment Church gained the status of the Cathedral of the new Diocese. The construction of the present Cathedral was started in 1987 and it was dedicated on October 29, 1989. The Cathedral is now famous as the “Shrine of Our Lady of Peace”, and the annual feast of dedication is celebrated on the first Sunday of November.
